Movie "Now Is The Time"
Access to high-quality health care is a right of all people and should be provided equitably as a public service rather than bought and sold as a commodity. Under a single-payer system, all residents of the U.S. would be covered for all medically necessary services, including doctor, hospital, preventive, long-term care, mental health, reproductive health care, dental, vision, prescription drug and medical supply costs.
Through interviews, animations and exposé, this new documentary film tells the story of the drama, struggle, and success of the movement towards healthcare equity.
After the showing of "Now is The Time" the filmmakers Laurie Simons and Terry Sterrenberg (who are both marriage and family therapists) will answer questions about the film and the state of healthcare in the United States.
We will also have a panel of people from the three sponsoring organizations to fill us in on the Single Payer bill that was just introduced in California and the actions being taken in your community to make sure it passes.
Special thanks to The New Parkway Theater that has generously donated the space for this showing.
